HOLOFICTION Celebrates its Polish Premiere at the 66th Kraków Film Festival

After its screenings at the Docaviv in Tel Aviv, HOLOFICTION travelled to Poland for its Polish premiere in the International Documentary Competition of the Kraków Film Festival – one of Europe's oldest and most prestigious documentary film festivals. Founded in 1961, the festival has long been regarded as one of the leading international showcases for documentary, animated and short cinema.
The festival presented HOLOFICTION with the following introduction:
"Few historical events have been portrayed on screen as often as the Holocaust. And few have become so entrenched in clichés, stereotypes and conventions. We are treated to a daring video essay compiled from clips of over 3,000 feature films made in the period from the late 1930s right up to the present day. The images, edited thematically, come together to form a single coherent work, engaging (without words!) with fictional representations of the Holocaust. It shows how cinema, by endlessly reproducing narrative patterns on the subject, has shaped collective imaginations and historical memory."
The film was screened twice during the festival, followed by a Q&A with director Michal Kosakowski.
