Jecheon Film & Media Center “Bom”, Jecheon (South Korea)

HOLOFICTION celebrated its Korean Premiere at the 22nd Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) in Jecheon, South Korea, which took place from September 3 to 8, 2026. Founded in 2005, JIMFF regards itself as Asia’s leading music film festival and is known for combining film screenings with live concerts. Under the slogan “Fly Together”, the 22nd edition presented 189 films from 45 countries and performances by 26 music acts, and welcomed 73,792 visitors over six days.

HOLOFICTION was shown on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Jecheon Film & Media Center “Bom” as part of the festival’s Tribute section, in the special programme “Only Music Speaks” (Korean title: 침묵의 오케스트라, 음악만이 말하는 영화들 – “Orchestra of Silence: Films in Which Only Music Speaks”). In Korea the film carries the title 홀로픽션.

About the Programme – “Only Music Speaks”

The programme was dedicated to films that tell their stories with little or no dialogue, relying on music, images and rhythm instead – a reminder that cinema was born silent and that music was its first voice. Alongside HOLOFICTION, the programme presented restored works by the Armenian master Artavazd Pelechian (Land of the People, The Beginning, We and The Seasons, shown at Cannes Classics 2026), Shindō Kaneto’s The Naked Island (1960), Aleksandr Kott’s Test (2014) and Aki Kaurismäki’s silent film Juha (1999). In its programme text, the festival introduced HOLOFICTION as a found-footage work assembled from more than 3,000 fiction films about the Holocaust.
