Michal Kosakowski – Jury Member at SLASH CAMPFIRE TALES 2024

The SLASH CAMPFIRE TALES made their return in 2024 – with this jury on board:

Michal Kosakowski, director and producer known for his bold and uncompromising genre and experimental films (Zero Killed), Magdalena Pichler, seasoned producer and former managing director of the Vienna Film Commission, with deep insights into Austria’s film industry, Thomas Willmann, acclaimed author and screenwriter (The Dark Valley), who brought Austrian genre storytelling to the big screen.

Following the great success of the previous year, the SLASH Film Festival once again went on the hunt for the boldest, scariest, and most original story ideas in 2024 – spanning horror, sci-fi, fantasy, thriller, and beyond. The competition was open to everyone with a gripping story to tell – no industry experience or polished scripts required. What mattered most was the ability to craft a powerful and imaginative genre narrative.

Participants had until April 30, 2024 to submit a story exposé. The six most compelling entries were selected to move forward, receiving personal mentorship from genre professionals to further develop their ideas. In the final stage, three outstanding projects were chosen by the jury and awarded a script development grant from the Austrian Film Institute (ÖFI), worth at least €10,000. With that, some of Austria’s most daring new genre film ideas moved one step closer to becoming a cinematic reality.
